Recommendations for your trip

  • Documentation: Bring your original passport (with an expiration date no less than 7 months). Students must bring their valid international student ID.
  • Footwear: Trekking shoes or comfortable, lightweight shoes, preferably with good grip.
  • Hydration: Reusable water bottle (canteen) to refill. Staying well hydrated is vital during excursions.
  • Clothing: Long-sleeve shirts, long pants (ideally quick-drying), warm clothing for cold mornings and nights.
  • Weather: Raincoat or rain poncho (especially during the rainy season, from November to March).
  • Sun Protection: High-resistance sunscreen, wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. Solar radiation at high altitude is very intense.
  • Health: Insect repellent, personal medications, and altitude sickness pills (if you consider it necessary).
  • Other Items: Camera, cash in soles and dollars (in small bills), and a small backpack to carry your belongings during hikes (optional: swimsuit if you wish to visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes or Lares on your own).
