The Expedition

Tour Overview

Discover Palccoyo, the tranquil and equally spectacular alternative to the famous Seven Color Mountain (Vinicunca). With Soncco Adventures, we invite you to explore a dreamlike landscape where not one, but three imposing rainbow peaks rise before your eyes, offering you a unique visual experience in an environment of peace and natural beauty.

This full-day tour is designed for travelers seeking less crowded wonders, without sacrificing comfort or adventure. Here, the hike is shorter and more accessible, ideal for acclimatizing to the altitude while immersing yourself in Andean panoramas that seem hand-painted.

Day by Day

Your Itinerary

1

7:00 am | Andean Breakfast in Cusipata
After a journey of approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, we will arrive in the picturesque town of Cusipata (3,310 m.a.s.l.). Here, we will welcome you with a delicious buffet breakfast, prepared with local products. Take advantage of the restroom facilities and get ready for the day ahead.

8:00 am | Cultural Visit to Checacupe
We will continue our journey to the ancient town of Checacupe (3,446 m.a.s.l.). This place is a true living museum, famous for its centuries-old bridges that cross the Pitumarca River. You will be able to admire three bridges from different eras (Inca, Colonial, and Republican), true engineering marvels that tell the story of the civilizations that inhabited the region.

9:30 am | Arrival at the Palccoyo Community
After an hour's drive, we will arrive at the Palccoyo Community, the starting point of our hike. Here, the landscape unfolds to reveal the daily life of the high Andean communities and their herds of llamas and alpacas, which graze freely on the slopes.

10:00 am | Hike to the Three Rainbow Mountains Viewpoint
We will begin a gentle, uphill hike of approximately 40 minutes. Unlike other routes, the Palccoyo trek is accessible to most travelers, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without extreme physical exertion. Upon reaching the viewpoint (4,900 meters above sea level), you will witness an unparalleled natural spectacle: three mountains of vibrant colors (ochre, green, red, and yellow) stretching out before you. You will have ample time to explore the area, ascend to the highest point to visit the mysterious stone forest, and, of course, capture the most breathtaking photographs of your trip.

12:30 pm | Return and Buffet Lunch in Cusipata
We will begin the descent back to the vehicle for our return trip to Cusipata. A delicious buffet lunch awaits you there, featuring a wide variety of Peruvian specialties—the perfect fuel to replenish your energy after the hike.

2:30 pm | Return to Cusco
After a well-deserved rest and with your heart full of unforgettable memories, we'll begin our return journey to Cusco.

5:30 pm (approx.) | Arrival in Cusco We'll arrive in Cusco and drop you off at Plazoleta Regocijo, just 2 minutes from the Plaza de Armas, or at a central location near your accommodation, thus concluding a perfect day of cultural discovery and scenic adventure.
